More of an introduction, really -
This is a great book, especially for people who are just starting to learn about tube amplifiers. It explains exactly how a tube amp works; the signal chain and its components. It explores different well-known amplifiers and what makes them distinct. At the same time, it dispells a lot of myths and brings the complicated (yet simple) world of the thermionic valve's place in musical amplification in an approchable text.
This book answered a lot of questions that I had, plus some that I hadn't even thought of yet, but doubtlessly would.

Great for Beginners -
This was a great book for beginners. Had the perfect amount of detail. Never went too far in depth as to lose the reader. The tube amp build at the end of the book is fantastic! I built it and its sounds great but be sure to look for the errata online, some values are wrong and the schematic can be deceiving. After reading it several times during the amp build though, I find myself looking for more in-depth information why certain capacitors should be used or how some of the sections of the circuit work on an engineers level. All in all a great starting point for the beginner tube builder.
guitar amp textbook -
I was impressed, but didn't understand much of the book. I'm new to the electric guitar, and this delved a little deeper into the workings of an amplifier than what I expected. I was hoping for more of a users manual I guess.

A excellent read for the guitarist. While technically interesting this goes into the subtle nuances of sound and tube amplifiers. Many myths are put to rest while the roots of some expanded and verified as true. All aspects of the tube amp from speakers and circuits to the enclosure are addressed. As a bonus famous amp builders are interviewed and the stories they tell are worth having this book regardless of the rest...
